This poem is for a friend who I wasn't really close with, as I knew her only through a school friend. But somehow, when I saw her life, I often felt a similarity. She’s just like me, an independent creative, grounded, genuine, down-to-earth, raw, and a melancholic.
Maybe that's why I was so drawn to her. Because the way we see life is quite the same, it feels like she has the same level of melancholy as I do. We both love being a Mom, and sometimes we talk about our kids.
When her first child was born, she didn’t have it easy. She fought hard because her baby was born at 27 weeks (if I'm not mistaken), and the heart wasn’t fully developed yet. She cried a lot, but she faced it, and now her child is thriving—full of confidence and independence.
I admire her; I think she’s a fighter, and so is her son. The day I wrote this poem, her son was turning two years old, so I sent her a matching set of pajamas for her and her boy along with the poem.
This poem is about her and her son. I hope this poem captures how I see her, and maybe how others see her too. This is a tribute of her 2-year relationships with her son. I want to cheer her on and celebrate all she has done for her child. Because I think she has faced life with incredible strength and resilience. I hope that if I ever find myself in her position, I can do the same.
Cheers to you! Here’s to a 2-year celebration for you and your little champ!

To a Friend I Admire and a Mom that Inspire
A mother's love, an eternal light,
Guiding her son through day and night.
From tender days to years that soar,
She's been his shelter, his anchor ashore.
With whispered words and tender care,
She nurtures dreams, teaches him to dare.
Through every stumble, every rise,
She's there to wipe fears from his eyes.
Her wisdom shapes him, her laughter rings,
A melody of joy, of the love she brings.
Through seasons change and moments passed,
Their bond endures, unbreakable, steadfast.
With each step forward, his bravery shines,
For in his heart, lies a bond that's forever spun.
Love, M
